性质：在一些无机固体化学反应中，产物的结构与反应物的结构存在一定的关联，化学反应在保持一定的晶体结构条件下进行。这类反应常称做拓扑化学反应。目前已经发现了很多无机固体化合物可以发生这类反应。例如在较低的温度下将金属锂嵌入到具有层状结构的二硫化铌中时，金属锂进入到层间，但二硫化铌的基本结构保持不变。又如次钒酸锂(LiVO2)具有与氯化钠相关的结构，锂离子和钒离子沿三重轴方向交替排列。在氧化性溶液中，锂离子可以被取出，生成具有二氯化镉结构的二氧化钒。在整个反应过程中，次钒酸锂(LiVO2)中二氧化钒部分的结构保持不变，而化合物的组成发生了改变。利用拓扑化学反应的结构不变性，可以进行具有特定结构和性质的固体材料的设计和合成，即通过有目的地修饰固体材料的组成和价态，得到具有指定结构和性质的材料。利用拓扑化学原理制成的锂离子电极，可以可逆地嵌入和取出锂离子，同时保持电极结构的稳定性。
